Why I Won’t Be A “Successful Blogger”. Do I Care?

Hello darlings, hope you are all well and taking care of yourselves. I don’t even know how to start this post because all I really had in mind was the title.

I think I was spurned on by the fact that I’m feeling a tad all over the place today, I’m in a weird mood, it’s not the best feeling in the world but whatever. Here I am. Writing a post because I’m fully aware that I don’t have anything scheduled for the next few days. I know, what kind of trash “blogger” am I? I guess we’re about to find out

So according to all the self help pages and “how to grow your blog in blablabla” posts, this is why I may never become a successful blogger (btw this is not bashing any of these sorts of posts, they’re actually very useful. I just don’t know how follow instructions clearly)

  1. Utilise Pinterest and Facebook to increase traffic to your blog. First of all, I didn’t even know FB or Pinterest were that important in the blogging world. Apologies for my ignorance but I only started taking my blog more seriously this year, and by “this year” what I really mean is this month. Yes. All two days of it.

2. Use apps like Tailwind, Buffer, Board Booster etc:  All these apps just confuse the heck out of me. What is a tribe?             How do I do all the above without actually having to do any of it?

3.Post frequently: My posts are sporadic and infrequent. This is mainly because I let life get in the way of blogging                quite a bit, but I’m actively trying to improve that.

4. Write amazing content that people want to read: This one is a bit up in the air. I don’t know if people like my posts!             Do you like my posts? Anyone? Anywhere? *crickets*.

5. Have a niche’: No.  I’m not organised enough to have a niche’. Neither am I organised to have a theme on my                       Instagram, tried it once, failed miserably. My blog topics vary depending on what I feel like posting and I don’t                     want to have to think of whether this is “unique” enough to post or whether it goes with my blogs niche’. I’m not                 great at make-up which seems to be HIGHLY popular in blogging and I don’t care about fashion that much either, I             have more of a passion for eating rather than cooking, and I don’t travel that often. So I just post what I feel like                 posting and hope someone likes it.

You know what? There are so many other reasons (I can be very lazy, not all my photos are Instagram “worthy”, SEO may as well be another language to me) but, the main question is: Do I care? The answer in short: I don’t know. Yes I want to build my blog up, and yes it would be great to be successful with this, but I started this blog because I wanted an outlet as well as wanting to make people happy. I feel like if I get sucked into the whole blogger life then I’ll end up compromising myself just for numbers which I don’t want. I will however make more of an effort with this blog, and my life as a whole so I might try a few of these tips and see what the outcome will be. At the end of the day, don’t compare yourself to other bloggers/influencers, you’re not them, you don’t have their life, so stay true to yourself and do you boo.

This post is sponsored by Tailwi…nah I’m joking.

” At the end of the day, don’t compare yourself to other bloggers/influencers, you’re not them, you don’t have their life, so stay true to yourself and do you boo.” – I love this statement! I just joined the blogging world, and I must admit I got addicted. However, I can only post at least once a week or maybe not (life happens). Niche? My blog topics vary too (lifestyle, travel, inspirations, blogging). I guess we should never compromise ourselves and our creativity just for numbers. I agree that we should write because it makes us happy and just to do our thing!

Aww welcome to the blogosphere! Exactly! Life gets in the way and you shouldn’t make yourself feel bad just because you’re not doing what everyone else seems to be doing. Do what you can when you can, just enjoy it 😊💖

I actually talked about this same thing earlier this week. It’s so hard not to compare yourself to other bloggers, especially the very successful ones. But they started right where you are and they followed their path. Let them be them. You be you. Be unique. <3

    • Lis

Exactly hun!! Everyone has to start at somewhere and go at their own pace…just don’t put too much pressure on the numbers and enjoy the process 😘

I know EXACTLY how you feel believe you me. I’m about the same – I have read soooo many other blogs telling me how I should blog and the advice is all the same. Sounds like they all used this secret recipe and boom – “I earn $xxxx a month”. Basically you need to spend the whole day being super active on all social media, making sure all your photos are “Instagram perfect”, like, comment, build a community. I have tried this “method” before but honestly I am a person that prefers to LIVE and ENJOY LIFE without having to post every single moment of it. I think that people who have jobs and want to blog as well can relate. I used to run my own blog (www.ankokocouture.com) but am now writing for thebadoutfit.com whenever I get the chance. And guess what – I do it because I love blogging. And no, I’m not even nearly famous haha
Thank you so much for sharing this post, it was truly refreshing! <3

Awww bub I loved reading this comment! It’s so true, so many different formulas and apps and blablabla I can’t keep up with..yeh I might try Tailwind or one of those things at some point but I just don’t think I’m built for that intense life…I don’t want to take pics of everything and post twice a day…I want to enjoy the moments and post when I feel like posting…algorithms add so much pressure to social media and I think that’s why so many people quit…it just becomes a game of numbers…..ooooo I think I was on that blog yesterday!! If that’s the one that posted something about Pradas new sunglasses campaign I absolutely loved it! Deffo going to check it out again….take care hun 😘

There are so many blogs out there telling you how to do it, it can get overwhelming. I think as long as you enjoy it, that’s all that matters 😍. I looked at Tailwind and thought it was sooo complicated I didn’t bother with it again ha ha 🙈. I don’t have a niche either, it’s nice to have the freedom to blog about whatever you like ☺️. Keep up the great work girl, really enjoyed this post 💖 xx

EXACTLY!! Just post what you want to post, when you want to post it…don’t pressure yourself too much otherwise you’ll lose sight of why you started blogging in the first place….keep doing what you’re doing hun, your blog is lovely 😊 x

    • Lis

😂😂😂 glad you enjoyed it bub!! And I think so many bloggers feel this too but not a lot want to bring it up; so glad you feel my pain! 😭💖

  • Amanda

The struggle is real — you described me to a tee. I’m so tired of reading “100000000 ways to get 1000000000 views on your blog” and trying 800000 different things only to NEVER get anywhere. As long as you enjoy it though, keep at it! 🙂

    • Lis

RIGHT?!!! ‘How I went from 2 followers to 2 MILLION in one week using one simple step!’ …seems legit 🙄 …just keep doing you bub 😘 x

I am in the same boat as you. While I love to write, I get overwhelmed in thinking that I have to do so many things in order to build up my audience. I know that my content isn’t that bad but I wish that writing was all that it could take in order get a good audience. Thanks for being real!

    • Lis

Right?!! There’s so much more that comes with being a blogger than just writing..you have to be super consistent, take ‘amazing’ photos, have a niche, engage all the time, blablabla… sometimes I just want to write a post and get on with life but I have to make sure that it’s getting out there somehow…you’re welcome hun, I’m glad you connected with this 💖

  • Driedzom

Dear this is the truth. I enjoyed your humour in this article. So much to enjoy about the blogging life. I think at the end it’s good not to compare with others and really enjoy working on what you are passionate about and just try to be consistent and results will come through. I sound like one of those Bloggers.

    • Lis

😂 no but you’re completely right! It is about your love of your blog as opposed to love of numbers. Comparison is and will always be the thief of joy so there’s no point in doing that xxx

  • Melina

I don’t have an Instagram theme, and I don’t think I am ever going to have a specific niche. I just write about whatever I feel like it. Even though I don’t do these two things, and I definitely don’t use tailwind, I think I can still be a successful blogger! I’ve gotten a lot of readers in the last year, and am continue to grow to become an even more successful blogger. Great post 🙂 xxx

Yaaaaas hun!! You do you!! Yeh I don’t have a theme or a niche either, and right now I don’t want one. You will be a successful blogger hun, just keep at it and keep staying true to yourself 💖

  • Ivie

Omg! You took this words right out of my head! I’m sure there are so many bloggers that feel this was but can’t write about it. Thank you!
